Default 55 vs 605...

Well, I'm currently in a "tough" financial situation in guildwars at the moment... I've honestly never done 55 or 605 type of farming, although I think its time I start doing it... I need 165k by nightfall release... and i'm 160k short of it =_=

Anyway, I already have a PvE Mo/Me, and I'm currently thinking of getting either some 55 or 605 equipment for it, to help myself out of my situation. It is because of the situation however, that I can only choose one, not both of these options (at the moment.)

I'm just wondering, which type of farming monk do you think generally does "better" than the other? Thanks.

If you're looking for quick money without having to invest much into specific Runesets and weapons. Go for the 605 Build. It's also (from my point of view) a lot easier and more stable than the 55 Build.
You'll need a sidekick though as the 605 Build is most efficient when teamed up with a friend (even moreso than the 55 hp Monk).

55 HP Monk:
You need 5 Superior Runes and a -50 HP Cesta

605 HP Monk:
You need two pieces of 15 AL armor (less than 500 g)

Infact then i Pefer a 55 Monk with 15 AL and Skills Like this: PS, Sbond, Breeze, SB(E), Bonettis, Blessed Aura, Mending, Balthazars aura.. Team up with a SS/SV necro and run smiter runs in UW .. This is what i do mainly to get money.. The old 55 Build can tank everything on the starting side of Serpend Twin Mountains.. (Also After, But that gets very hard),.... The 605 build can tank stuff like Wrathful spirits.. And They have a harder time vs stuff like Dyders and Coldfires cus their Wand attacks dont trigger SB.. So with the build i listed you can Tank it all.. And Many smiters as you want.. No limit on them cus of SBond..

So thats what i pefer..

(Note, The build is ripped off Makosi?, Guy with 21mill exp monk)..

can u exactly explain why a 605 monk would be good... it just sounds dumb cause their armor sucks... and if u get like 7 guys attacking u ur toast. all those enchantment removals screw u over.

It's matter of how spells work.
Spirit Bond heals you for 60+ everytime something hits you for atleast 60 damage.
Spirit Bond works before Protective Spirit works.

If you're wearing low 15 AL, almost every highlevel enemy will surely hit you for more than 60 damage and thus trigger Spirit Bond. However, after Spirit Bond triggered, there is still Protective Spirit active, preventing you from taking more than 10% damage.

So in numbers:

Aatxe hits you.
You take more than 60 damage and spiritbond triggers
Protective Spirit however also prevents that you take more than 60 damage (if your hp is 605).

Thus:
60 Damage taken
60+ Damage healed

Et voilá - "invincible"

/edit:
605'ing also works with any kind of hitpoints unless 10% of them is higher than what spirit bond heals for. But 400 HP or 300 HP are just as fine. 605 though is mostly used so your sidekick can do nice damage with Holy Wrath and Retribution.
